Georgia's Charlie Condon now a Colorado Rockie following No. 3 pick in 2024 MLB Draft

Charlie Condon was the No. 3 pick in the 2024 MLB Draft. He's now a Colorado Rockie.

FORT WORTH, Texas — The University of Georgia's Charlie Condon was drafted by the Colorado Rockies as the No. 3 pick in the 2024 MLB Draft on Sunday.

Projected first by some, the 6-foot-6 Condon led the NCAA this year with a .433 average and 37 homers. The 21-year-old homered in eight straight games from April 26 to May 9, one shy of the NCAA record, and won the Golden Spikes Award as the top amateur baseball player.

According to Georgia Baseball, Condon is the highest-drafted Bulldog in Georgia baseball history.

Condon graduated high school from The Walker School, and in 2023, he was posted as one of the greatest freshman and overall seasons in school history, according to UGA's biography on him. He also became Georgia's first Dicken Howser Trophy recipient in 2024.

The now-former UGA baseball star followed Australian second baseman Travis Bazzana, who the Cleveland Guardians took with the No. 1 pick in Major League Baseball’s amateur draft on Sunday. Condon also followed Wake Forest right-hander Chase Burns, who went second to Cincinnati.

Baseball's No. 1 selection this year had a slot value of $10,570,600 under the bonus pools system that began in 2012.

Teams were to make the first 74 picks Sunday at the Cowtown Coliseum, with the remainder of the 20 rounds on Monday and Tuesday.
