POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. — A high school baseball team in Cobb County is in disbelief after players' equipment was allegedly stolen from the team's facility Friday night, according to a social media post by the school's baseball account.
The baseball booster club at Hillgrove High School is raising money after the baseball team said that several bats, gloves, glasses and other equipment were all missing when they got to the facility Saturday morning.
They also allege that someone broke into their batting cage and tried to steal their machines but were ultimately unsuccessful.
In a statement, the baseball team's booster club said:
"On Saturday, February 17, 2024, it was discovered that there had been a break-in at the baseball field at Hillgrove High School. The locker room was broken into, and many of the player's equipment had been stolen. This included gloves, bats, sunglasses, etc. This is devastating to a program that has just started its season. If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Hillgrove Dugout Club."
The Hillgrove Dugout Club has set up an online fundraiser to help replace the stolen gear so players can get what they need for the current and ongoing season.
"We are deeply saddened, disappointed, mad, and frustrated at the entire situation. We are not as concerned about the punishment as we are about our kids getting their stuff back. They don’t deserve for this to happen to them," the baseball team said in a social media post on X.
