Myles Murphy announces commitment

The five-star recruit announced where he'll go to college.

POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. -- A metro Atlanta student-athlete has announced which school he'll play football for in college.

Myles Murphy is a five-star recruit from Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Ga. and plays defensive end for the Hawks. He is the No. 11 player in the nation.

The rising senior is expected to announce his commitment at the halftime of Hillgrove's spring game Friday evening. His top two choices were Clemson and Auburn.

The crowd cheered as he picked up the hat and chose Clemson.

"I just had to go with the gut feeling and I chose Clemson," he said.

UGAInsider Radi Nabulsi called Murphy bright and said he wants to be an engineer, making the engineering schools more important to him than the rankings or coaches.

Murphy said both schools were at the top of the list because they offered a lot of things he was looking for in a school.

"They check the boxes of the culture that they adopt there and the people they develop there," he said. "They develop the person as men, not just as football players, but to men."
