Metro Atlanta high school football games canceled due to Helene | List

There was a concern whether high school football games in the area could be played with Helene's expected impacts.

ATLANTA — As Hurricane Helene inches closer to making landfall along the Florida panhandle in the Gulf Coast before slowly making its way up to Georgia, schools in metro Atlanta are making preparations for the storm.

With Helene expected to make much of its impact in Georgia on late Thursday night and into the day on Friday, there was a concern whether high school football games in the area could be played.

We now have a full list of the counties in which there are games that have been canceled, postponed or rescheduled due to Helene:

Canceled/Postponed

All high school football games in:

  • Fulton County
  • Gwinnett County
  • DeKalb County
  • Clayton County
  • Henry County
  • Hall County
  • Douglas County
  • Rockdale County
  • Newton County

Two games in those counties have announced when they are rescheduling their contests. Southwest DeKalb at Marist will now be played Saturday morning at 11 a.m. North Springs at St. Pius was postponed until Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
