ATLANTA — Georgia Tech Athletic Director Todd Stansbury says a week has felt like dog years in a Facetime call.
He spoke on a number of topics centered around how COVID-19 has affected college athletics on Friday. Stansbury said that no Georgia Tech athlete or Tech athletics staff member has tested positive for the coronavirus and that he is thankful for that.
"Obviously, we're in uncharted territory," Stansbury said.
The big topic on social media right now is whether the Georgia Tech men's basketball’s postseason ban still counts considering the NCAA Tournament was canceled because of the coronavirus.
Stansbury said that he thinks that it absolutely still counts. There were ACC Tournament games played.
"I think we fulfilled our ban requirement and now it's just our attorneys are finalizing all of that and working with the NCAA," he said. "But, yeah, I can honestly say that I did not see this coming, that's for sure."
But he said that Tech’s lawyers are working on finalizing it and making it official with the NCAA.
