ATLANTA — Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan took the field again at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Thursday—but not to play football. This time, Ryan read to 500 YMCA campers.
Ryan read "Clifford Takes a Ride" to bring awareness to car safety. The Big Red Dog was even there for the campers to meet and take pictures with.
Ryan recently retired from the Falcons to pivot to broadcasting and spend more time with his family.
In May, the Falcons surprised Ryan by announcing that he would be inducted into the Ring of Honor this October. He will be inducted during a Thursday night game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"I'm also proud of the fact that forever, that banner's gonna be hanging wherever the Falcons go," Ryan said. "Extremely proud of that and honored to be a part of the group that's in there."
