ATLANTA — The Atlanta Braves have agreed to extend President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Alex Anthopoulos' contract through the 2031 season. The team made the announcement Friday.
Anthopoulos has been with the organization since 2017, starting as the Executive Vice President and General Manager before being promoted to his current role in February of 2020.
During the six seasons the Braves have been under Anthopoulos' leadership, they have maintained a 515-354 record, won six consecutive NL East division titles, and captured the 2021 World Series championship.
The general manager has secured several long-term contracts for key players on the team, stabilizing the team's success.
“The Braves are an incredible organization to be a part of, and I’m proud of the success we’ve achieved together. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to lead baseball operations and to strive to bring another World Series to Atlanta," Anthopoulos said.
Prior to being with the Braves, Anthopoulos previously worked for the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays.
