PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia Phillies have announced that their Opening Day game with the Atlanta Braves has been rescheduled until Friday, March 29.
The game Thursday was set to be the MLB season opener.
The Phillies noted that the Thursday game was canceled due to anticipated rain.
The team said in a statement, "The decision was made after consultation with Major League Baseball and various weather services."
Atlanta and Philly are set to kick off the 2024 season against each other following on division races won by the Braves in both 2023 and 2022 -- but the subsequent playoff battles won by the Phillies each year.
The teams will play back-to-back-to-back games across the weekend for the three-game series after they were originally going to have Friday as an off day.
