Hawks' Saddiq Bey out for season with torn ACL

The small forward was injured during Sunday night's game against the Pelicans.

ATLANTA — Atlanta Hawks' Saddiq Bey is out for the season after injuring his knee during Sunday night's 116-103 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Bey was ruled out for the remainder of the season after an MRI showed a tear to his left ACL this morning, the team announced Monday.

The injury comes at a bad time for both the small forward and the team, as players have suffered various injuries in recent weeks. Last week, the Hawks announced that Jalen Johnson was placed on day-to-day status after an ankle sprain, and before that, the team lost Trae Young for at least four weeks to a hand injury.

Now, Bey's ACL injury will likely have him sidelined for the foreseeable future as he heads into restricted free agency this summer.

Bey has played 63 games this season, averaging 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.8 three-pointers on 41.6 percent shooting from the field.
