ATLANTA — Zaccharie Risacher, the 19-year-old No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft for the Atlanta Hawks this year, put the first exclamation point on his young career on Wednesday night.
The Frenchman became the youngest player in Hawks history with a 30-point game, scoring 33 as Atlanta beat the New York Knicks at home 121-116.
Risacher showed off a blend of skills -- making 6-10 three-pointers with a very-smooth looking shot, cutting and scoring a few short-range buckets.
The three-pointers were the most promising sight -- he'd struggled so far from three this season, and his 6-10 outburst brings him to 29.2% now for the year. The highlights also included a composed push shot from 12 feet with a minute and a half left in the game that tied it at 110-110.
He hit 3-4 free throws in the final 90 seconds to help ice things for Atlanta, as well.
Through nine games in the season now, Risacher is scoring 12 points a game with roughly three and a half rebounds and one assist, steal and block per game.
