No animals allowed appears to be the reason given for another school's bulldog mascot being left out during March Madness this week.

Fans took offense when Bulter's canine mascot "Blue III" was not allowed into PNC Arena during in NCAA Tournament games in Raleigh.

Some took their concerns out on the arena's management on Twitter.

But the arena's page was quick to clarify that is wasn't their fault.

While it was likely a disappointment for fans, it should not have been a surprise.

As it turns out, Blue III is the second of the Butler mascot lineage to be snubbed at the big game according to Yahoo sports.

In 2011, the sports site reports Blue II was also kept off the courts in Washington, D.C. despite objections - even from the hosting team.

That year, an NCAA spokesperson said the issue wasn't so much being averse to animals as it was to crowding issues at preliminary games.

The same appears to be true this year and it doesn't look like there will be any bending of the rules.

So while Blue will be the one outside, for Butler fans, it's the NCAA that's in the doghouse.

As for Blue, he seems to be taking it fairly well.
