ATLANTA — Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank experienced a "minor medical issue" over the weekend, the team said Monday, and that he is being treated and "doing really well."
The team made the announcement at the introductory press conference for new head coach Raheem Morris, at which Blank was not present.
"He had a minor medical issue come up over this weekend and he's being treated. He's doing really well and he's resting today," said Brett Jewkes, EVP, Chief Brand and Communications Officer for AMB Sports + Entertainment. "I've spoken to him several times over the last couple hours and he's very disappointed to not be here."
Jewkes added that Blank is "in great spirits, really excited about the man that's sitting in the center seat" -- referring to Morris at the press conference.
The AMB Sports + Entertainment executive went on to say that Blank was "also very pleased" with the announcement on Sunday that Atlanta and Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host eight World Cup 2026 matches -- including a semifinal match.
Jewkes said it was "another validation to his (Blank's) vision for what this building is and what it means long-term for the great city of Atlanta."
