Atlanta Falcons resume in-person work at practice field, ond day after announcing positive COVID-19 test

The team worked virtually for on Thursday. They were back at the facility on Friday.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — In-person operations at the Atlanta Falcons practice field  have resumed, just one day after they were suspended following a positive COVID-19 test on Thursday.

The team made the announcement in a statement Friday morning.

It was on Thursday morning when the Falcons tweeted that they stopped all in-person work at the IBM Performance Facility under the NFL's "supplemental intensive protocols."

"Out of an abundance of caution following one new positive test, we have made the decision to stop all in-person work at IBM Performance Field Thursday and will conduct all operations virtually," the organization tweeted.

That announcement came just one day after the team said the Falcons were entering the NFL's "supplemental intensive protocols" at IBM Performance Field after defensive tackle Marlon Davidson was placed on the reserve/COVID list.

The news was just another setback during a devastating 0-5 season for the organization.

Recently, the team named Raheem Morris as its new interim head coach, after former head coach Dan Quinn was fired following yet another loss against division rival, Carolina Panthers.

As fans in Atlanta have their eye on what's next for the Falcons, there is also a close watch on the next steps in college football for the Georgia Bulldogs.

They are set to play Alabama this weekend, but their head coach, Nick Saban, revealed this week that tested positive for COVID. Alabama's athletic director also tested positive for the virus.

The commissioner for the Southeastern Conference, Greg Sankey, said they are waiting to see if any players are infected before they make the call about the game.

As for the Falcons, the question is whether their game on Sunday at Minnesota is still on. The NFL hosted a safety call Thursday afternoon.
