ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Falcons and the Philadelphia Eagles will kick off the 2018 NFL season Thursday night.
The game airs live on NBC. Coverage starts at 7:30 p.m.
UPDATE -- due to a weather delay, kick-off has been postponed until 9:05 p.m.
The game marks the beginning of what the Falcons hope to be a history-making season. No team has ever played in the Super Bowl in their home stadium. Super Bowl LIII will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on February 3, 2019.
The showdown is also matches up two teams who have played in the last two Super Bowls. The Eagles are the defending NFL champions after beating New England in Super Bowl LII. The Falcons, of course, suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl LI. The Eagles also ended the Falcons season last year en route to their Super Bowl win.
Falcons' fans have another reason to be hyped about the season: Jermaine Dupri and Ludacris have teamed up to remix "Welcome to Atlanta" for Atlanta football fans.
