ATLANTA — Todd Gurley and Sony Michel.
Back in 2014, both players shared the prominence in the same University of Georgia backfield.
For 2019, though, it'll be a whole different arrangement, with the stakes slightly higher than those carefree college days.
(No disrespect to Vanderbilt and Tennessee.)
On Sunday, Gurley's Rams and Michel's Patriots clinched berths for Super Bowl LIII in exhilarating fashion, with both teams overcoming double-digit deficits on Championship Weekend ... before rallying to win on the final play.
As such, Gurley (one TD vs. New Orleans) and Michel (113 rushing yards, 2 TDs vs. Kansas City) will be VIPs for Super Sunday, with both players getting feted like heroes before their Atlanta homecoming.
The only difference between the pair: Gurley has never played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium ... whereas Michel undoubtedly remembers the pain of last year's overtime loss to Alabama in the College Football Playoff national title game.
