ATLANTA — Budweiser's Super Bowl ad debuted on Twitter Wednesday morning and let's just say it's taking a windy approach.
Yep, Budweiser announced their beer is now brewed with 100 percent renewable electricity from wind power.
The company posted on YouTube:
"The time has come to take action and help build a better future for us all. That’s why wind has never felt better. Budweiser is now brewed with 100% renewable electricity from wind power. "
"Blowin' in the Wind" by Bob Dylan narrates the commercial, staged on what appears to be a windmill farm.
The beer company announced they will also donate clean electricity to Atlanta to power the city the week of the Super Bowl.
"Atlanta is a city that has set remarkably high sustainability goals for itself – and by donating this electricity, Bud is offsetting 100 percent of the electricity used to power Super Bowl week with clean, renewable electricity, " the release stated.
Budweiser's parent company, Anheuser-Busch, set sustainability goals focused on four main points: Renewable electricity and carbon reduction, water stewardship, smart agriculture and circular packaging. The company said it understands and is committed to protecting the environment.
"As beer is a natural product, a healthy environment is crucial to the brewing process. In fact, 98 percent of the primary ingredients used in the beers Anheuser-Busch proudly brews are grown in the U.S," wrote Anheuser-Busch.
Budweiser is partnering with a clean electricity company known as Drift. From Jan. 23 to Feb. 7, Budweiser and Drift will offer a free month trial of a green plan to consumers who sign up.
“We take great pride in our sustainability efforts and our long history of striving to be good stewards of the environment. Now, we are challenging ourselves to do more,” said Michel Doukeris, CEO of Anheuser-Busch. “Our company has been around for 165 years, and these goals will ensure that we continue to make meaningful contributions toward building strong communities and a healthy environment for the next 165 years.”
The Super Bowl will be played in Atlanta on Feb. 3 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. 11Alive is the official partner of the Atlanta Super Bowl Host Committee, with exclusive content from the 11Alive set at Super Bowl LIVE in Centennial Olympic Park.
