Delta, Southwest, JetBlue adding extra flights for Super Bowl fans

All three carriers have extra flights on Friday, Feb. 1 and Monday, Feb. 4 to accommodate extra crowds of fans coming to Atlanta.

ATLANTA — Both Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines have added more flights into Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport from Boston and Los Angeles for Rams and Patriots fans headed in for the Super Bowl.

In addition, Southwest said they have former St. Louis Rams fans covered with an extra flight from Lambert International Airport in St. Louis.

Atlanta-based Delta is adding an extra non-stop flight from Los Angeles to Atlanta on Friday, Feb. 1. They are also adding two extra flights from Boston on Friday, Feb. 1, and one more extra flight from Boston on Saturday, Feb. 2.

Southwest is adding two extra flights from Boston to Atlanta on Friday, Feb.1, as well as one extra flight from Los Angeles and one extra flight from St. Louis on Friday.

Both carriers are adding more flights on Monday, Feb. 4 to accommodate fans headed home after the Super Bowl, also.

Never to be left out of the fray, discounter JetBlue Airways has added extra flights to and from Atlanta from its Boston hub, but they took the opportunity to take a jab at Atlanta, harkening back to the Falcons' loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl LI after blowing a 28-3 lead in the third quarter.

Southwest has added two extra flights to Boston and one extra flight each to Los Angeles and St. Louis on Monday. Delta says they are adding two extra flights to Los Angeles, two flights to Boston and one extra flight to New York's LaGuardia Airport on Monday, Feb. 4.

"These extra flights meet higher demand as fans make plans to follow their teams to Atlanta to watch the biggest football game of the year," said Brook Sorem, Southwest's Senior Director of Network Planning.
