Double-check your route before go to the Super Bowl Campus

Know before you go is the best advice for anyone heading downtown

ATLANTA — If you are heading to Super Bowl LIVE, you may want to double-check your route.

About 1 million people, including celebrities, are expected to travel throughout the city during the 10-day Super Bowl period. But there is good news -- because being proactive could prevent you from being impatient.

While some streets are already closed, there are billboards showing detours to get around the closures.

Some events have already started, but whether you are going to Super Bowl events or just headed to the downtown area to dine or shop, just remember to take a quick look at your route before you head out. The key phrase is 'Before You Head Out.'

Leading up to the Super Bowl, there have already been rounds of road closures with some of the main streets heading toward or around Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Georgia World Congress Center and Centennial Olympic Park area already closed at certain points. As we get closer to the game itself, the list will only get longer.

GETTING AROUND: How to get around Atlanta during Super Bowl LIII

To stay on top of the list of street closures, use the 11Alive app, the city of Atlanta's app and the MARTA app.

Speaking of MARTA, the buses and trains are the fastest ways to get around the city. Of course, ridesharing services, scooters, and city bikes are helpful, too. And, even if you already know where you are going, it is still a good idea to use Waze, Google Maps or your favorite mapping app, because route changes are happening continually.
