COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Things are bustling ahead of Super Bowl LIII - even a little over a dozen miles from Mercedes-Benz Stadium where the game is happening.
On Friday night at Shaq’s Fun House artists Tiesto, Migos, Lil Jon and T-Pain were all performing.
While most of the Super Bowl fun is happening around downtown, people outside the perimeter (OTP) are hoping to get in on a bit of the action – even if it’s from the comfort of their own couch.
“I love Atlanta but the traffic can be challenging on certain days when a lot is going on downtown,” said Kim Spiezio from Alpharetta. “Us OTP-ers, we stay out here.”
Her plans for the Super Bowl?
“I don’t know yet, all of my friends say they’re chilling,” she said.
Martha Lansden works at an apartment complex outside the perimeter where they’ll be having a party of their own.
“I think we’ll have at least 50 or 60 residents,” Lansden said. “Everyone is really excited about getting together and celebrating the Super Bowl here in Atlanta.”
The motto: Go big, or stay home.
Lauren, who was at The Battery, said she’ll go wherever the party is.
“I’m sure we’ll all end up doing something when it comes down to it, but the traffic is the main concern,” Lauren said. “But, we’re excited.”
For those looking to avoid downtown on Super Bowl Sunday, there are other events outside the city, including the Play Football Family Fest, happening at Marietta High School on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Marietta High School.
The Play Football Family Festival will include fun football-related activities, guest speakers, a parents' forum, youth league sign-up stations, music, food trucks and giveaways.
