Uber has Atlanta discounts for Super Bowl weekend

Free Uber Eats delivery and 50 percent discounts for Uber rides to and from MARTA stations.

ATLANTA — With the days counting down before Super Bowl weekend, Uber has announced special deals in Atlanta.

Uber Eats has announced free delivery this weekend -- Saturday, February 2 through Monday, February 4. Last year, during Super Bowl weekend, wings and pizza were among the most-ordered items for the delivery service.

To use the discount, check the Uber Eats app for the promo code on February 2.

On game day itself, locals and visitors alike can get around the city with a discount of 50 percent off on trips to and from MARTA stations. To take advantage of the discount, just enter the code MARTA4GAME in the payment section of the Uber app.

The promotion will apply on uberX and uberPOOL trips to and from MARTA stations on Sunday from two hours before to two hours after the Super Bowl game itself.

"At MARTA, we're ready to transport football fans to and from the big game - and Uber is making it even easier to leave the car behind," said Benjamin Limmer, Assistant General Manager at MARTA. "Every day, Atlantans use rideshare to connect to and from MARTA, and we are glad to see Uber continue to encourage more of those shared journeys. If you're ready to skip the hassle of parking and save money this Sunday, we'll get you there."

Uber has offered discounted trips to and from MARTA stations at busy times in the past, including big stadium events, the Thanksgiving travel season and during the 85 bridge repair period.

Given that there are so many people looking for reliable transportation, Uber also wants to share some important tips for safety:

  • Check your ride - Other riders may be looking for Ubers in the same area where you are and at the same time that you are. Verify the details on your app and make sure they match who is picking you up. Match the license plate and the vehicle's make and model with the app, and confirm that the driver looks like the photo in the app.
  • Share your ride - If loved ones are counting down to your arrival, share your status from the app as soon as you're connected with a driver. That lets them watch your progress on a map, including your ETA, plus they can see details about your driver and the car you're in.
  • Message your driver - If you're getting picked up in a crowded area, you can send a message to your driver or call your driver directly through the Uber app. That way you can let the driver know what you're wearing or let them know a quick message like "I'll be right there" with a single tap. Your messages are read to your driver aloud, so they can keep their attention on the road.

Uber's new JUMP e-bikes and scooters are now available in Atlanta and provide yet another affordable way to get around the city this weekend.

They're only $1 to start using and 10 cents a minute to operate after that. JUMP e-bikes and scooters can be activated and operated directly from within the Uber app.
