PARIS, France — Celine Dion brought the house down on Friday night at the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics with her powerful rendition of “L’Hymne à l’amour."
Dion's performance immediately drew comparisons to her compelling rendition of "The Power of the Dream" at the Atlanta 1996 Olympics inside Centennial Olympic Stadium, which later became the home of the Atlanta Braves for 20 years at Turner Field.
Dion's performance in Paris on Friday was a rendition from the French singer Édith Piaf from a stage at the base of the Eiffel Tower.
The Olympic Games official X account posted her performance in Atlanta from 28 years ago following her masterclass rendition in Paris.
The Canadian singer had been rumored to perform at the Olympics Opening Ceremony. Her emotional performance came atop the Eiffel Tower after the Olympic torch lit the cauldron as it ascended into the air.
