Anthony Edwards poised to be USA Basketball's breakout star at Paris Olympics

The Olympics enter the final weekend, but there are still plenty of Georgia athletes to root for. Here's a list of who to watch.

Basketball

  • Anthony Edwards
    • Atlanta native, attended Therrell High School, Holy Spirit Prep and UGA
    • Matchup: Men's gold medal game, US v France
    • Time: 3:30 p.m.
  • Bogdan Bogdanovic
    • Plays for Atlanta Hawks
    • Matchup: Men's bronze match, Serbia v Germany; competing for Serbia
    • Time: 5 a.m

Results: Bogdanovic and Team Serbia won the bronze match against Germany, with a final score of 93 - 83. 

Canoe sprint

  • Nevin Harrison
    • Has trained at Lake Lanier
    • Matchup: Women's canoe single 200m semifinals, finals (if qualify)
    • Time: 5:40 a.m., 7:40 a.m.

Results: Harrison took home silver in the final on Saturday morning. Katharine Vincent of Canada won gold, and Yarisleidis Cirilo Duboys from Cuba won bronze. 

Diving

  • Carson Tyler
    • Colquitt County High School graduate
    • Matchup: Men's 10m platform semifinal (qualified as a reserve, may not dive)
    • Time: 4 a.m.

Results: Tyler was not scheduled to dive in the competition. 

Soccer

  • Emily Sonnett
    • From Marietta, attended Fellowship Christian School
    • Matchup: Women's gold medal match, US v Brazil
    • Time: 11 a.m.
  • Jane Campbell (Alternate) 
    • From Kennesaw, attended Darlington School
    • Matchup: Women's gold medal match, US v Brazil
    • Time: 11 a.m.
  • Croix Bethune
    • From Alpharetta, was an All-American at UGA
    • Matchup: Women's gold medal match, US v Brazil
    • Time: 11 a.m.

Track and field

  • Marie-Therese Obst
    • UGA alumna
    • Matchup: Women's javelin throw final
    • Time: 1:30 p.m
  • Graham Blanks
    • Athens native, Athens Academy alumnus
    • Matchup: Men's 5000m final
    • Time: 1:50 p.m
