PARIS, France — Katelyn Abeln, an American Olympian with Team USA shooting from Douglasville, made her Olympic debut in Paris on Saturday.
The 23-year-old alum of South Paulding High School competed in the women's 10m air pistol event.
She finished 24th in the qualifying stage -- with eight athletes who qualified to go to the final and compete for a medal.
While Abeln won't have a shot at a medal in this event, the good news is that this actually was not her best event. She's still slated to compete in the 25m pistol event which takes place next Tuesday, August 2.
Abeln has a number of accomplishments to her record in the 25m event -- among them gold at last year's USA Shooting National Championship and gold at the 2024 Championship of the Americas.
