PARIS, France — Team USA's Katie Moon, of Powder Springs, Georgia, won the silver medal during the women's pole vault final at the Paris Olympics on Wednesday.
Moon, the defending gold medalist of the event, fell just short in the last moments of the final. After she chose to pass on her second 4.90 attempt, she only had two more attempts to clear the 4.95. However, Moon failed to take off on her first attempt and then dropped the bar on her second.
In the end, Australia's Nina Kennedy won the gold, and Canada's Alysha Newman claimed the bronze medal.
