Re-watch H.E.R. sing the national anthem at the Olympics Closing Ceremony

The R&B singer gave a stirring performance, striking a chord with not only her vocals, but also on her guitar.

PARIS, France — On Sunday night, the 2024 Summer Olympics drew to a close and Paris officially passed the Olympics baton to Los Angeles, the host of the 2028 Games.

As part of the handoff, the upcoming host city got to show off a little taste of what's to come, sprinkling in a little taste of L.A. with performances from well-known California stars like Snoop Dogg and an adrenaline-inducing display from one of Hollywood's most recognized stars, Tom Cruise, who repelled from the top of the Olympic Stadium to the ground below.

Among the handoff ceremony acts was a rendition of the United States' national anthem, sung by Academy Award and GRAMMY Award-winning singer H.E.R.

The R&B singer gave a stirring performance, striking a chord with not only her vocals, but also on her guitar.

Online, people overall praised the rendition, with the L.A. Olympics official X account writing simply: "Iconic."

Others compared it to another legendary rendition sung by the late vocalist Whitney Houston:
