PARIS, France — It was a big day for Simone Biles when she proved to the world that you will win some and lose some.
During the balance beam final on Monday, Biles fell off the beam and the podium, taking fifth place during her routine. Later that day, she would go on to snag her 11th career medal in the floor exercise final, grabbing a silver medal.

American gymnast Jordan Chiles took the bronze medal after a score inquiry, and Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade took home the gold in the floor exercise final.
Watch the moment she fell off the balance beam below.
Wearing a blue-and-white leotard featuring over 5,000 crystals, Biles was more than halfway through her set when she couldn't quite keep her balance. She hopped off the beam and onto the mat while thousands inside a packed Bercy Arena let out an audible “ohhh.”
Biles received a score of 13.100 for Monday's balance beam finals.
Biles previously made the headlines after withdrawing from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when she got the twisties, a halted connection between a gymnast's brain and body.
She decided to put her mental health first, withdrawing from the rest of her events that year.
Biles came back stronger than ever, snagging four medals, including three gold and a silver in the 2024 Paris Games.
But Monday's falter off the balance beam was not another case of the twisties for Biles. The unforgiving balance beam tested several competitors, including Team USA Sunisa Lee.
Gymnasts also felt the rather and unusually quiet arena might have played a factor for several athletes who had a shaky balance beam performance.
