PARIS, France — Right after her historic gold medal win with the other Team USA Gymnastics members, Simone Biles told Reuters spoke about the food at the Olympic Village.
Biles said to reporters that athletes would need to leave the village to enjoy the true local cuisine. This response came at a press conference following the U.S. women winning gold, where all five teammates were asked what they were eating and if they were enjoying food in France.
"OK, here's the thing. I don't think we're having proper French cuisine in the village like you guys might be eating because you're outside the village," she said.
She added that the food in the village is healthier.
According to a report from Reuters, France uses more than 600 tons of fresh produce from catering firms to provide 40,000 meals a day. The produce is said to be mostly grown in France, with a focus on local, organic, and vegetation options.
