SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane is silver! Paralympian Taylor Swanson from Spokane took home the silver medal on Thursday in the women’s 100-meter T37 final!

Swanson was born in South Korea where she was adopted at six-months-old and raised in the United States. She wasn't diagnosed with cerebral palsy until early 2023 when doctors discovered she had hemiplegia, a type of unilateral cerebral palsy.

She only began training as a sprinter in 2022 after tearing her meniscus.

Swanson’s silver medal came in her first time participating in the Paralympics.

Swanson’s win means free pizza for people in Spokane! Boston’s Pizza says they will be dishing out free pizzas to loyalty members on Sunday, September 8 in conjunction with the closing ceremonies. “We love this community and are so proud of both of our local athletes who are following their dreams in Paris,” said Casey Garland, Boston’s Pizza General Manager.

The gold medal was won by China’s Wen Xiaoyan.
