PARIS, France — As Olympic swimmer Nic Fink struck silver for Team USA, the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech grad is also preparing for another big milestone: a baby!
According to a Team USA social media post, Nic and his wife, Melanie Margalis Fink, another Olympian from UGA, are expecting their first child together.
On Sunday, Nic tied for silver in the Men's 100m Breaststroke. While Melanie wasn't able to make the trip to Paris, she's still showing her support for her husband on social media.
"Admittedly, not how I thought I would be watching @finknic swim in his 2nd Olympics, but I AM SO PROUD! 2x Olympian and now an Olympic Silver Medalist!!!!" she wrote on Instagram.
In an interview with 11Alive's Cheryl Preheim, Nic also spoke about Melanie's reaction to him winning silver for Team USA.
"She's probably doing -- got her heart rate up as much as I did in that race," Nic said. "I'm missing her a lot out here. I know she's dying to be out here."
Melanie posted photos on Instagram of her watch party at home surrounded by loved ones and the couple's adorable cat.
"Everyone knows about Nic’s full-time job while also being a full-time swimmer. What people didn’t see was Nic doing 100% of all household chores, all the cooking and taking care of me for the first 4 months of this year on top of all of his responsibilities. He’s truly the best 🥰 and so deserving of it all!!!" she added in the post.
