PARIS, France — After securing the bronze for Team USA on Tuesday, the women's rugby team visited the TODAY show on Wednesday to discuss their historic win and praise their teammate who made the winning play.

With less than 30 seconds to go, the U.S. was losing 12-7 to Australia when Alex "Spiff" Sedrick made a miracle play, tearing across the field -- outrunning and busting through opponents -- to tie things up. Team USA then made their two-point kick to clinch the win 14-12 and take their place on the podium. This bronze is the team's first Olympic medal.

"I knew that they'd be coming for me," Sedrick told the TODAY show. "This is our last opportunity to medal."

The next morning, the team was all smiles on TODAY as they discussed what the win meant to them.

"This, so far, has been the moment of the Olympic Games," host Hoda Kotb said.

Host Savannah Guthrie asked if the team believes in miracles, to which Ilona Maher replied: "I believe in Spiff." The whole group starting applauding and cheering "Spiff! Spiff! Spiff!"

Sedrick once won the MA Sorensen Award at Life University in Marietta as the nation's top rugby player. Her play on Tuesday will only help add to that reputation.
