PARIS, France — It was the surprise of a lifetime for Simone Biles eight years ago at the Rio Olympics -- no, not winning four gold medals but rather meeting the man she had long been a superfan of, Zac Efron.
The actor surprised the world-class gymnast in Rio de Janeiro back in 2016 on TODAY, much to the delight of Biles who was caught totally off guard in excitement.
After the surprise, Biles took to social media to brag about getting to meet her celebrity crush. At the time, she was just 19.
Fast forward eight years into the future, and Efron is still showing his support for Biles' gold medal win in Team for USA's women's gymnastics squad, even from afar.
Efron posted on his Instagram story, "So incredibly proud of you @simonebiles," in which he shared a Team USA post that explained how Biles was the oldest U.S. women's gymnast to win an Olympic gold medal at age 27.
Efron included three emojis. He added the emoji of hands forming a heart shape, a gold medal and the goat emoji, which references his opinion and the thoughts of many who believe she is one of the greatest gymnasts of all time.
