ATLANTA — Atlanta soccer fans are taking in the news about the World Cup matches that are taking place in Atlanta.
Dozens watched it live at Brewhouse Cafe in Atlanta.
Kaddy Kobain of Atlanta had a lot to be excited about.
"We're all Atlanta. And we are all about football," Kobain said.
The announcement gave Kobain something to cheer for.
"What better place to be to play than right here?" Kobain said.
Kobain is already making his predictions.
"If England comes, that's who I'm rooting for," Kobain said.
Atlanta is getting eight total matches, including five group-stage matches. Though the U.S. Men's National Team will not start in Atlanta, they could play here for a knockout game in either the Round of 32, Round of 16 or a potential semifinal match.
World Cup veteran fan Allyson Digmann said seeing teams play, which she wouldn't otherwise see, is still worth the ticket.
"I love the World Cup," Digmann said. "I actually went to the Women's World Cup in Australia, New Zealand last summer for the whole month."
Digmann, along with many others, were hoping for a finals match in The A, but that spot went to New Jersey.
"I wish we were getting the U.S. games in Atlanta, but I understand why they are in L.A. instead," Digmann said. "They've got bigger facilities there and better infrastructure to host that kind of stuff, but I'm excited that we got eight games. I wasn't expecting that much. So, I'm very excited, especially that we have a semi."
Atlanta United fan Randall Back is excited enough to buy multiple tickets.
"Eight matches in Atlanta? That's great! I'm going to try to go to all of them, as many as I can," Bach said.
And he'll be battling thousands of others to full Mercedes Benz Stadium three summers from now.
"I can't wait," Bach said. "Two years is a long time, but it feels like it'll be here tomorrow."
Digmann said she's also interested to see how public transit is going to work, especially considering the traffic in Atlanta.
