UGA learns Sunday if they'll be in college football playoffs

The newly crowned SEC champions will find out on Sunday whether they have earned a berth in the national college football playoffs, which could lead to another appearance at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018.

UGA defeated the Auburn Tigers by a final score of 28-7, leading to the Bulldogs’ hope for a playoff appearance.

Pairings for all 39 bowl games, including the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta New Year’s Day, will be announced in the College Football Playoff Selection Show, beginning at noon on ESPN.

The final top 25 team rankings will also be announced.

For Georgia (12-1), it’s the first SEC title since 2005, and it's Kirby Smart's first title in his second season, matching what Mark Richt did in his second season (in 2002). It’s also the first time anyone besides Alabama or Auburn has won it since LSU in 2011.

Other playoff hopefuls include the Oklahoma Sooners, who defeated TCU on Saturday 41-17; USC, who has an outside chance after beating Stanford on Friday to win the Pac-12 title.
