Why are the Falcons not wearing their Color Rush uniforms on TNF?

Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

It's Thursday night in the NFL.

That usually means two things: a less than thrilling football game and teams wearing their Nike Color Rush uniforms.

The NFL and Nike partnered together to create the Color Rush uniforms, an alternate uniform for all 32 teams to wear on Thursday night games to excite fans and engage viewers.

The Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers face each other at Raymond James Stadium on Thursday, but because both the Falcons and the Buccaneers both chose red for their jerseys, only one team will get to wear the all-red Color Rush uniforms.

The Buccaneers will wear their color rush uniforms as the home team, and the Falcons will wear their normal white road uniforms. The Falcons won't get to wear their Color Rush uniforms until next season.

Teams that wore white Color Rush jerseys on Thursday nights this season chose white to be their color.

The Falcons are one of nine total NFL teams this season that will not get to wear their Color Rush uniforms because of color conflicts with the other team.

The NFL's Color Rush uniforms aren't just for show. All of the proceeds from the sales of the jerseys will go to the NFL Foundation to fund health, safety and wellness programs for youth around the country, according to the league.

Here is what the Falcons' Color Rush jerseys will look like:
