ATLANTA — An astronaut from metro Atlanta brought some his tales from space back home on Friday.
Shane Kimbrough, who most recently went to space last year as the SpaceX Crew-2 commander, was at Georgia Tech for a visit. He got his master's degree from Georgia Tech in 1998.
With 388 days in space, only three people in U.S. history have more time away from Earth than Kimbrough.
At Tech on Friday, he spoke about his experiences in space, describing what it's like to take off (and land) in a space shuttle, what it's like on the international space station and what the process is like in general to try and become an astronaut.
He shared a conversation at length with Naia Butler Craig, an aerospace engineering PhD student at Georgia Tech.
