ATLANTA — If your nose is especially twitchin' this morning, it's not deceiving you: The pollen out there is sky high.
Atlanta Allergy & Asthma, which tracks the daily pollen count for the area, reported the first "extremely high" day of the season so far, at a whopping 2,431.
For comparison, no day yet this season had surpassed 1,000.

Still, it's not as bad as last March - a year ago there were six days higher than today's count, including astronomical pollen counts of 6,974 on March 28, 2021 and 5,031 on March 31, 2021.
So far, we've been spared anything at that level.
Atlanta Allergy & Asthma considers any pollen count above 1,500 as "extremely high," with 90-1,499 being considered "high."
The levels this year have really only started spiking in the last week or so - there was a 987 day last Thursday, amid a run of several days between 300-400.
