DALTON, Ga. — You may have felt the ground shake if you were up in north Georgia near the Tennessee border on Monday afternoon.
That's because a 2.2 magnitude earthquake hit just northwest of Dalton, Georgia, at 4:49 p.m. on Monday, according to data from the United States Geological Survey.
According to the California Earthquake Authority, a 2.2-magnitude earthquake doesn't register on the seismic scale as a "minor" quake, which is a rumble with a magnitude of 3.0 to 3.9.
