1 dead after Gordon County crash on I-75

The wreck happened just before 6 a.m. on I-75 South near exit 318, outside of Calhoun.

Authorities are investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash in Gordon County.

The wreck happened just before 6 a.m. on  I-75 South near exit 318, outside of Calhoun.

According to Georgia State Patrol, the driver of the black Chevy Cobalt, Cody Lovingood, lost control of his car. The vehicle spun out of control and a white Chevy Silverado hit the car head-on, GSP said. 

After impact, both vehicles went into the tree line of the west side of I-75.

Lovingood,28, died at the scene, authorities said. He was not restrained when his car was hit head-on, GSP said.

The driver in the truck was not hurt. 

The roadway was blocked during the morning and traffic was diverted at exit 320. The scene is now cleared.
