ATLANTA — San Francisco startup Spin is quietly growing its fleet of electric scooters across Atlanta.
Last month, Atlanta issued permits for 2,000 e-scooters operated by Spin, according to a new report from the City Department of Planning. The expansion comes as the dockless vechicle startup looks to grow in several U.S. cities after Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) bought it late last year to strengthen its mobility business.
In Atlanta, Spin will go up against competitors Bird, Lime and ride-hailing giant Lyft, which are the largest e-scooter operators in the city. All of those companies are growing their own fleets.
