App that connects commuters to six transit agencies launches in Atlanta

Known as Georgia's first regional transit trip-planning app, ATL Rides is designed to improve the daily commute of Atlanta residents.

ATLANTA — An app designed by the Atlanta-region Transit Link Authority (ATL) to streamline the use of six transit agencies across the metro has launched.

"The development of ATL RIDES is the culmination of the strong partnership between these six transit agencies in the metro Atlanta area," said Jannine Miller, Executive Director of ATL. "Creating and launching this new app is a result of a new level of coordination across the region's transit agencies."

Known as Georgia's first regional transit trip-planning app, ATL Rides is designed to improve the daily commute of Atlanta residents.

Local transit company (ATL) announced the launch of ATL RIDES in October following successful testing.

The app lets users easily plan transit trips across 13 counties with Xpress, MARTA, Ride Gwinnett, CobbLinc, Connect Douglas, and Cherokee Area Transit System (CAT).

"It'll tell you turn-by-turn directions, exactly what stop you want to get at, how long it's going to take you," Abby Marinelli, Transit Funding Manager at the ATL, said. "If you want to go to Mercedes-Benz Stadium, you can just type that in, and it will take you right to the front door."

Users can track their next bus or train online or on the app in real time. Users with disabilities can choose wheelchair-accessible routes.

The app is free and available in the App Store, Google Play or online.
