ATLANTA — One person is facing vehicular homicide and DUI charges after a crash Thursday on Atlanta's I-75/85 Downtown Connector. The wreck happened early in the morning and caused a shutdown of the Connector at Williams Street for some time. The roadway opened back up a little after 6 a.m.
Officers said two people were hurt in the two-vehicle crash, with one of them dying later.
Their preliminary investigation determined that the driver of a gray Hyundai Ute was headed south when the driver rear-ended a white Lexus.
"Investigators determined the driver of the Hyundai, an adult female, was intoxicated," APD said.
The driver is facing charges for vehicular homicide, reckless riving, DUI and for following too close, they added.
The incident came as heavy rain inflicted havoc on the interstates around Atlanta Thursday morning.
