ATLANTA — Many people believe Atlanta has some of the worst drivers in the country - but not so, says the folks over at QuoteWizard, a site owned by Lending Tree.
Analysts over there claim they looked at six million car insurance quotes from drivers in the 70 largest U.S. cities. These were then evaluated based on four factors:
- Speeding tickets
- Citations
- Accidents
- DUIs
Atlanta, as it turns out, ranks somewhere in the middle of all the cities examined, coming in at No. 31 on the list.
As far as those individual factors?
We were:
- 26th in accidents
- 58th for DUIs
- 18th for speeding tickets
- 27th for number of citations
So, who is the worst? According to QuoteWizard, it's actually Virginia Beach, which they said had the highest rate of citations and one of the top 10 states for DUIs. Yikes.
Other cities that faired poorly included:
- Dayton, Ohio
- Riverside, California
- Indianapolis
- Fresno, California
According to QuoteWizard's metrics, the cities with the best drivers were as follows:
- Detroit
- Little Rock
- Louisville
- Hartford
- Baton Rouge
