We all know Atlanta's traffic issues stretch as far as the eye can see, but who would have thought we would rank number one in the top 100 Truck Bottlenecks in all of the United States - everyone.
Everyone knew.
In all seriousness, Atlanta is a great place to live but the traffic is - meh.
The American Transportation Research Institute released the 2018 list of Top 100 Truck Bottlenecks in the U.S. and sure enough, Georgia's own Spaghetti Junction was right at number one.
But that was not all; Atlanta appeared on the list seven times.
This included:
1. I-285 at I-85 (Spaghetti Junction, ranked #1)
2. I-75 at I-285 NB ( Cobb Cloverleaf Ranked #4)
3. I-20 at I-285 WB (Ranked #17)
4. I-20 at I-285 EB (Ranked #46)
5. I-20 at I-75/85 (Ranked #79)
6. I-75 at I-85 (Downtown connector, Brookwood Ranked #90)
7. I-75 at I-675 (Ranked #95)
The research revealed that the average speed on Spaghetti Junction peaked at 24.73 mph, that's slower than a school driving zone.
This is the third time Atlanta has come in at number one on the list and most of the bottleneck problems are concentrated near the perimeter on I-285.
Speeds around the metro have dropped since last year and that basically means congestion in Atlanta is getting worse.
So, remember to be courteous when driving in this busy city and remember to share the roads with everyone, especially trucks.
