FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga. — One southbound lane on Highway 85 is shut down at Morning Creek Bridge in Fayette County Friday afternoon, the sheriff's office said.
Authorities said the bridge sustained damage and was expected to be closed through Saturday afternoon. However, on Friday night, officials said one of the lanes has reopened on the bridge for traffic to pass through.
The Fayette County Sheriff's Office said the Georgia Department of Transporation will place barriers -- blocking the area.
11Alive's traffic expert, Crash Clark, said you can use Highway 314, West Fayetteville Road, between Kenwood and Fayetteville as an alternative route.
