ATLANTA — Two people were killed in a shooting on I-75/85 early Friday morning.
It happened around 4 a.m., according to Atlanta Police, near Fair Drive. EMS and fire personnel arrived and found the car riddled with bullets.
APD said both individuals inside the car had gunshot wounds to the head. The driver of that vehicle was taken to the hospital, while the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Friday afternoon, Atlanta Police said the driver in the incident had died. The Fulton County Medical Examiner identified the passenger as 28-year-old Darius Ford and the driver as 31-year-old Christian McMiller.
Police said they recovered "substantial ballistic evidence" on scene, including two firearms.
The circumstances under which the shooting occurred were not fully clear. Police did not say they have a suspect vehicle at this time.
APD said they were still "early in the investigation" and "doing everything we can to try to locate any potential witnesses who heard anything or observed anything."
Later Friday morning, around 10:30 a.m., APD said they responded to a double shooting in southwest Atlanta. According to a police release, "Investigators believe this incident appears to be related to the homicide that occurred on I-75/85" earlier in the morning.
