CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A crash in Cherokee County Wednesday morning left one person dead and others injured.
According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, 61-year-old Robert Schroeder died from his injuries.
Officials said deputies were called to the scene on I-575 around 7 a.m., just north of Riverstone Parkway in Canton.
According a spokesman with the sheriff's office, a Kia Sportage hit a Toyota Tacoma from behind, causing both vehicles to lose control and hit a guard rail. The SUV and the truck both ended up on their sides.
Deputies said Schroder was ejected from the truck as a result of the crash.
Both the drivers and the passenger in the SUV were all taken to the the hospital for treatment. The sheriff's office said Schroeder died from his injuries.
Deputies said witnesses told them the Kia Sportage was driving erratically before the crash. The wreck is still under investigation.
