COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb Parkway could see an hour-plus closure Monday afternoon after a major wreck that involved an overturned vehicle and entrapment, police reported.
The closure impacted all of Cobb Parkway's southbound lanes where the roadway meets the Canton Road Connector shortly before 1:30 p.m.
The Marietta Police Department reported the wreck. They issued a statement reading:
Serious motor vehicle accident with rollover and entrapment has all lanes of Cobb Parkway South blocked. Roadway could be blocked for over an hour. Police and Fire are on scene now.
Please use alternate routes for the next hour or two.
Marietta Police later said a 2001 Honda Prelude, driven by an 18-year-old, was making a U-turn at the intersection when it crossed into the path of a 2021 GMC Sierra, driven by a 26-year-old.
The GMC Sierra had several passengers in the truck including a 64-year-old and a 63-year-old. Everyone was taken to Wellstar Kennestone hospital with various serious injuries, according to Marietta Police.
"Due to the extent of the damage to both vehicles, Southbound lanes of Cobb Parkway were closed for approximately three hours," Marietta Police said.
Marietta Police said charges have not been filed in the crash and their investigation remains ongoing.
