APD officer, 1 other taken to hospital after crash

The investigation revealed that the person who hit the officer's police cruiser was at fault, according to police.

ATLANTA — An Atlanta police officer and another person were taken to the hospital Tuesday night after a crash.

APD tells 11Alive it happened at the Interstate 75/85 ramp at University Avenue around 9:30 p.m.

Police said a driver failed to yield when turning left and hit the officer's patrol car. 

Video from the crash scene shows a white truck and the police cruiser with damage. The airbag is also deployed in the patrol car.

The officer and the other driver sustained non-life threatening injuries, but were both taken to the hospital. 

The investigation revealed that the person who hit the officer's police cruiser was at fault. Police said he was taken into custody and given a citation.
