1 killed, 1 injured in two-car crash on I-85 north near airport, police say

There were heavy delays during the rush hour.

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. — One person was killed and another was injured Thursday afternoon in a major crash that closed all lanes of I-85 northbound at the I-285 interchange, City of South Fulton Police said.

South Fulton Police said the two-car crash happened at exit 68 right around 3 p.m. All northbound traffic on I-85 is being redirected off the interstate at Flat Shoals Road at exit 66.

Police said the person who was injured was taken to the hospital, but they did not provide an update on their condition. Police did not say how the crash happened.

South Fulton Police Department's traffic unit is at the crash scene as they work to figure out what happened. 

I-85 north has reopened to traffic in the area.
