A wrecking crew arrived just after noon Thursday, March 15, to remove a camper trailer seen dangling from the I-275 overpass near downtown St. Petersburg, Fla.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Despite the scary images, there were no injuries in a late morning crash involving a camper dangling over an overpass.

A 2016 Ford Explorer was pulling a trailer while traveling north on I-275 in the outside lane north of the I-175 exit ramp when a 2010 Hyundai Elantra driven by Courtney Tierney, 20, of Waretown, N.J., drifted into the outside lane and collided with the left side of the trailer, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The Hyundai then rotated counter-clockwise, colliding with the trailer on the rear right side, which caused the trailer to fishtail and roll up onto the top of a concrete barrier wall, FHP said.

Tierney was cited for careless driving. The three people in the Explorer were not injured.

Northbound I-275 traffic was diverted at I-175, with traffic moving on the right shoulder. The road below the overpass, 5th Avenue South, was closed as crews removed the vehicle.

A wrecker arrived around noon to lift the camper off the overpass and away from the scene.
